Still deciding whether or not I like the new boss

Guest post written by Julie Michaelson

Now, don’t get me wrong. I have loved Andy as a character on the show for such a long time now. But I have to say that I was really disappointed to find out that he was made the new regional manager on the show The Office. He just can not handle all of that pressure. Instead of just being funny to me, it’s more annoying. But that may be because I have had bosses in the past that just would let their employees walk all over them and get away with anything.

What I am really hoping for, though, is that Andy will finally get some guts and be a better boss. If not, I will not be able to stand to watch this season. I was online looking for some spoilers to see if he was going to be a little more brave and when I was doing that I ran across some info on internet companies. After I saw that, I decided to change over my home internet service.

But maybe there is hope yet for Andy as the new boss.

CMFAds shutting down

I have been a CMFAds user for the past couple years so I was both shocked and sad when I saw the blog post regarding the service shutdown. I usually recycle the money I received from CMFAds advertisements on my blog back into advertising with other blogs so in a way the site works more like an advertisement exchange platform for me more than anything else. While I never made much money from the site I really enjoyed the service provided by Ben. He is an individual with integrity and I wish him the best success in his future endeavors. If you haven’t had the chance be sure to check out his blog!

On the other hand, I sincerely hope something similar doesn’t happen to Adgitize which is another blog advertisement company I have really enjoyed. Unfortunately my real life has been getting really busy (with new work that requires quite a bit of traveling) so the amount of time I have for blogging has decreased dramatically. As a result I haven’t advertise or participate in Adgitize’s forum at all even though I really like to. The advertising service they provide is great and the pricing is really affordable. While you are not going to get rich with Adgitize you can more than break even (I view Adgitize as an advertisement exchange platform as well). I would definitely recommend any newbie bloggers to check on Adgitize. Let’s keep the site running as the owner, Ken, is definitely another stellar individual!

Find the right movers in this new school season

With the summer coming to a close school is now on everyone’s mind. For most people school has already started but if you are one of those people who are in college or university (quarterly system) school is probably still a few weeks away. Yet, the beginning of school also means time to rent u-Haul or get movers. I still remember my hectic college days where I was running around trying to rent a truck so I can move my sofa bed from one apartment to another. Now as I grow older I promised myself never to move heavy furniture myself again. If you have become like me and is no longer the do it yourself kind be sure to check out www.meatheadmovers.com.

MeatHeadMovers is a moving company that provides local moving throughout southern California (Yes I lived in Southern California). The movers for this company are actually local athletes who are working to support themselves through college. If I was still living in Orange County I would definitely consider them as my mover. Maybe everyone can get together for a cold ice beer once the move is done and catch a game of football on tv. With all kidding aside, in addition to being a moving company, they also try to make a difference by offering free service to women victims of domestic violence and other nonprofit activities. Be sure to check them out if you are thinking about moving. If nothing else, check out their site to see what other nonprofit activities they participate in!

Be sure to also check out their Facebook page for latest news and updates!

Moving from Netflix to Redbox

I have been a Netflix user for as long as I can remember. I started their service when they first came out and have never turn back. Even though there are other options that came out such as Blockbuster and Redbox, I have never thought about switching until recently. With the price increase and the fact that I am traveling quite a bit, getting dvd through mail no longer is an appealing choice. In the end I decided to cancel my DVD service and only keep streaming.
With no DVD delivered to me I decided to give Redbox a try. Even though I have read quite a number of negative reviews regarding Redbox I have to say I like the service quite a bit. I get to rent a movie for a little more than $1 with tax but often times there are lots of free code floating around the internet where you get to rent a movie for free. Furthermore, Redbox movies releases are much faster in comparison to Netflix. Now I am starting to get use to the idea of Redbox, I might even cancel the streaming all together!

Sept. Auto Insurance Savings

Ever since I decided to change job two months ago the issue of car insurance has been constantly on my mind. For a little background information, I decided to switch job two months ago and took a consulting or self-employed job depending on how you look at it. The job requires me to travel and work at the client site on a weekly basis. I don’t mind the traveling but in order for me to get to the hotel from the airport I either have to take the cab or get my own rental car. At this point you might be wondering why I didn’t just get a rental car since I would get reimbursed. That was my thought when I first took the job until I was informed that limit damage waiver (LDW) insurance is not covered by the client. The rental car companies usually charge an exorbitant amount for LDW on a day rate of $20 ~ $25. If you do the math that comes out to be more than $7000 a year! So what happens when you drive a rental car without LDW insurance? That means your own insurance will have to cover in the case of whatever possible damage. Cab would be a good option except the flight I usually take (only direct flight) now arrives at 11 pm at night.

This dilemma has gotten me to research about cheap auto insurance. One of the site I discovered is http://www.cheap-autoinsurance.com. This site enables me to enter my 5 digit zip code and instantly provide me with a list of providers. It is like a reminder for me regarding which insurance does offer car insurance. Since I haven’t shopped for car insurance the only image in my head these days all came from the State Farm singing commercial (Which are very catchy!). If you are looking for car insurance, be sure to consider different providers!

How saving money and managing finances can help you repay debts fast

The following is a guest post by a Facebook friend Martha.  Enjoy!

When you have multiple credit card debts and you do not know how to manage them, you should try to pay them off as fast as possible. There are several debt reduction strategies with which you can pay off your debts. You can also repay your debts on your own without taking any professional help. Go through this article to know about 4 debt reduction tips with the help of which you can pay off your debts.

 1. Pay credit card bills on time – This is said as a useful debt reduction tip. When you purchase anything by using your credit card, you should make it a point to pay the balance to the credit card company on time. It is important that you pay off your credit card bills on time in order to avoid increased debts on your credit cards. Even if you make minimum payment on your credit cards, it is essential that you should make the payments on time.

The low interest period is for a limited time and so, you should make the most use of it by paying off your outstanding balances within the low introductory rate period. Once you transfer all your outstanding balances to one such card, you should make it a point to repay the balance within the low introductory rate period. In case you fail to do so, you will be charged high interest on your balance amount.

State Farm 9/11 Tribute Commercial

I saw this commercial today on television as I was watching the football game between Eagle and Rams and I was quite moved by it. Simple, elegant and not a sense of advertisement. Well done Spike Lee and State Farm. Definitely makes me feel a lot more favorable toward State Farm insurance after the commercial.

Massaging Gel Insoles

In one of my previous post I briefly mentioned that I switched a different job recently.  Instead of staying locally I now work as a consultant in which I travel to the client site on a weekly basis.  As a new consultant there are a lot of things I have to adjust to (e.g. a lot less than to write my blog).  One of the aspects that I really had to adjust to is the business casual attire.  I am used to wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes at my previous work but that kind of dress code will no longer be acceptable.
Of all the different dress codes the one that got to me is the dress shoes.  As a frugal person, I have decided not to get a rental car while I am traveling (I will post additional reasons in a future post).  Instead I will rely on free shuttles and walking.  However, my feet is starting to ache from all the walking that I have done recently.  This reminded me of a recent BzzAgent campaign that I joine called Dr. Scholl’s Massaging Gel Insoles.  As part of joining this Campaign, I received a free insole to try.  The insole is too big for my shoe size so I had to trim it down.  Once I trimmed it so it fit my shoes perfectly it worked like a charm.  While I still can’t walk long distance in my dress shoes my feet don not feel as much of constrain on my feet as it used to.  My next step would be to purchase another pair of comfortable dress shoes.  In the mean time, the Massaging Gel Insoles has helped out quite a bit.  For those of you who are having issues with you feet pain, I strongly recommend giving the Massaging Gel Insoles a try.
P.S. I am a member of BzzAgent in which I am invited to join Campaigns for different products or services.  Whenever I join a campaign I am typically provided with a product sample in exchange for my honest opinion (either positive or negative) and sharing the idea with others.

Back to School Shopping and Safety Signs

As August is near an end we, the consumers, are once again bombarded with ads for back to school sales. When I was a kid this was among my favorite time of the year (the other being Christmas). During this time my aunt would take us kids out to different office supply stores such as Staples and we would stack up on school supplies. During my school days I loved writing in a brand new notebook as it implies a brand new beginning.
In addition to the necessities, we would often purchase interesting or funny signs such as traffic signs or no parking signs. My favorite when I was a kid was a completely yellow sign that says “Geek at work”. That sign always brought a smile to my face and made me study harder. Unfortunately these days I read a lot less now so that sign is no longer applicable to me (the internet seems to have taken away a lot of my reading time.)
So if you still haven’t done your back to school shopping be sure to plan some fun back to school shopping trips and decorate your room with creative signs!

Optimize your site with Webimax

As a blogger everyone wants to get more traffic and more readership.  While there are different types of traffic the best type of traffic is searching engine traffic.  If your site is ranked for a good set keywords it will receive natural traffic without much effort.  However, in order to be ranked for a set of useful keywords you want to make sure you have a good understanding of Search Engine Optimization.

Some of the search engine techniques I have used in the past includes:
- Install search engine optimization plugin
- Carefully research the desired keywords and construct my post around the keywords.
- Change the URL to include the blog title instead of the default number.
- Generate external links back to your website by methods such as article directory.

Yet, I would say that optimizing your site for search engines is hard work.  It requires time to writing additional articles to submit to different directories, guest post on another blog, or be active in a forum.  Another option I recommend is to look for companies that specializes in optimizing your sites to rank high on the search engine.  That way you can focus on what you do best: write content!
