Moving Here

Guest post written by Sidney Owens

When my son and I moved into this new house a few months back I knew I had to do something to make him feel more at home. He was really missing his friends back in Akron and because of my new job he was home a lot by himself after school but I didn’t really have a choice. I went to go online and look up Satellite TV Specials and found a good satellite plan for us and my son’s been having a ball watching movies on TV before I get home. He’s always said he wanted to do something with film and I think he’d be great at it so it’s nice to see him spending his time studying some of the great old classics. I know he gets a kick out of it and it’s better than him being out and about running amok in the neighborhood so it’s fine by me! He seems to be getting used to it here and hopefully it won’t be long before he totally feels at home in our new place. I know I’m starting to!

Farewell Adgitize

I was quite shocked the other day to visit Adgitize forum only to see an announcement regarding Adgitize to close at the end of January 2012 (For those of you not familiar with the service, you can read my thoughts on it here).  The thought of Adigitize closing crossed my mind earlier this year when CMFAds closed down earlier this year but I sincerely hoped that it would find a way to keep the site up and running.  Building a blog network is extremely hard especially in a time where all the conversations have moved to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

Thanks to the site owner, Ken Brown, for the wonderful service the site provided over the past 3 years.  While I haven’t been visiting the site much in the last couple months because of my new job, I will miss the site and the professionalism that Ken exhibited for his customers.

Consolidate your credit card debts on your own by two methods and be debt free

Once you have incurred debt, you will realize that it is indeed something that is best kept at bay. However, your spending habits will seldom let you do so. One of the main culprits for you falling in debt is those pieces of plastic in your wallet, also known as credit cards. Credit cards are a way to buy items on credit without giving the money then and there. However, what most people tend to forget is that, just because you are not paying the money then doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay the money at all. You actually get a time span of one month which is the billing cycle of all credit cards to pay back the amount you have spent on credit, failing which interest rate shall be charged on your debt. Thus, you need the help of credit consolidation. In most cases you are unable to pay back the bill within time as the amount you have spent is much more than the amount you can afford to pay back.

As time keep increasing your debt amount also keeps increasing as interest rate charges keep getting added to the principal amount. In such a situation credit consolidation is your best way out of trouble. Credit consolidation is a process in which your multiple credit card bills are merged into a single one and the interest rate on them is also reduced. Usually you can get credit consolidation done with the help of professional company with the help of a credit consolidation program. If you don’t want to seek professional help you can also do credit consolidation on your own. Here are two ways in which you can achieve credit consolidation.

  • Consolidation loan – You can take consolidation loan in order to consolidate your multiple debts. A consolidation loan is in most of the cases a secured loan which is why it has a low interest rate. This means that you keep any of your assets as security against which you are taking out a loan. Failure to pay back this loan would result in the asset getting confiscated in order to pay for the loan amount. Usually the most common asset against which a consolidation loan is taken is property and is known as home equity loan.

  • Balance transfer method – Another way you can consolidate your credit card debts is by balance transfer method. In this method, you can transfer the balances in your high interest rate card to a low interest one. In this way you are able to merge your multiple credit card debts into a single one and also get a low interest on them.

Thus you can see how you can consolidate your debts on your own and make the pay back process much easier.

Celebrity game

Posted by Gaylord Campbell

My friends and I always play a game where we try to describe and guess which celebrity someone is talking about. Someone will tell a story about a celebrity and the rest of us have to decide if it is true or false. We use the internet providers Arkansas a lot of times to double check people’s stories when we do not believe them. We definitely IMDB a good bit to check people’s stories about different actors and actresses. Last week when we were playing and my friend told a story about Bradley Cooper that none of us believed. It was so outlandish, but whether we believed it or not, we found proof of it on IMDB and some other site. That was not the first time a story none of us believed turned out to be true. That game turns into a lot of fun since my friends really make an effort to keep up with what goes on with celebrities. I have never been all that great at it since I do not pay too much attention, but it is definitely entertaining anyway.

Check your credit score on a regular basis

As an individual that travels quite a bit for my everyday job these days, identity theft and how it impacts my credit score is constantly on the back of my mind. For those of you not aware of the impact of credit score, it impacts your borrowing cost for everything from a car loan and mortgage. As a mean to be cautious, I tend to limit the usage of my card by paying cash for my meals if I can help it.
However, even though you might be cautious people with malicious intent can still steal your identity and ruin your credit score. As a result, it is important to keep an eye on your credit score on a regular basis just to make sure nothing is out ordinary. One way to keep track of your credit score is to monitor your credit score with websites that offer free credit score. Your credit score is based on three credit bureaus and each one uses a different formula to evaluate your score. As for me, I am currently getting a refinance on my house, I just paid for my credit score evaluation but if you are looking to check your credit score on a annual basis be sure to check out FreeScore!

On a side note, it is now a good time to refinance your mortgage!

New rental price increase from Redbox

It looks like Redbox is following the footsteps of Netflix in terms of price increase.  I just received an email from them stating the following:

Starting on Monday, October 31, the daily rental charge for DVDs will change to $1.20 a day.* The price change is due to rising operating expenses, including new increases in debit card fees. Daily rental charges for Blu-ray™ Discs and video games won’t change.** Additional-day charges for DVDs rented before 10/31 won’t be affected, either.
In order to make the transition easier, Redbox will discount the first day of all online DVD rentals to $1.00 from 10/31 through 11/30. Additional rental days will be $1.20.***
As a customer this price increase actually doesn’t bother me as much as when Netflix announced their price increase (Granted Netflix was essentially increasing by 100%).  In fact, I am actually feeling a little guilty with Redbox since they gave up so many free movies codes (I got a bunch from McDonald’s Monopoly recently) I rarely paid for the movies I rent from them.  Furthermore, while their selection is limited I like the fact that they usually have the latest DVD release.  Personally I see Redbox definitely doing something right if as a customer, I am not upset with a 20% price increase.

October baseball

As we reached October we are once again entering baseball playoff season.  I have to say I am really disappointed with SF Giant’s performance this year since winning the world series last year.  While I am following the baseball playoffs I really wish the media would stop putting focus on the Cubs and how they lost in 2003.  With the recent documentary by ESPN, Catching Hell, I am sure there will be a lot of attention on Bartman again.

I really wish that guy has been doing well.  He has suffered a lot for just being a baseball fan and I hope he left Chicago.  I honesty can’t say that I won’t go for the ball if I were in his shoes and I certainly won’t stay in Chicago afterward.

Still deciding whether or not I like the new boss

Guest post written by Julie Michaelson

Now, don’t get me wrong. I have loved Andy as a character on the show for such a long time now. But I have to say that I was really disappointed to find out that he was made the new regional manager on the show The Office. He just can not handle all of that pressure. Instead of just being funny to me, it’s more annoying. But that may be because I have had bosses in the past that just would let their employees walk all over them and get away with anything.

What I am really hoping for, though, is that Andy will finally get some guts and be a better boss. If not, I will not be able to stand to watch this season. I was online looking for some spoilers to see if he was going to be a little more brave and when I was doing that I ran across some info on internet companies. After I saw that, I decided to change over my home internet service.

But maybe there is hope yet for Andy as the new boss.
