Internet 2010 in numbers by Pingdom
I just saw a blog post on Pingdom which list by the number for internet 2010 and it is truly astonishing:
- 152 million – The number of blogs on the Internet (as tracked by BlogPulse).
- 25 billion – Number of sent tweets on Twitter in 2010
- 100 million – New accounts added on Twitter in 2010
- 600 million – People on Facebook at the end of 2010
- 2 billion – The number of videos watched per day on YouTube
- 35 – Hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute.
- 262 billion – The number of spam emails per day (assuming 89% are spam).
- 88.8 million – .COM domain names at the end of 2010
- 13.2 million – .NET domain names at the end of 2010
There are a lot more stat on the blog post but the user growth for some of these sites like Twitter and Facebook are simply astonishing. I am surprised by the difference in the number of domains between a .COM and .NET domain.
Just in case you haven’t heard of Pingdom, they offer a very helpful tool for checking your website download speed that I use frequently.
Price Comparison with Become.com
These days With information at everyone’s finger tips less and less people are paying retail price for their item purchases. With television shows such as extreme couponing it looks like being frugal and saving money has gone main stream. It doesn’t matter whether you are looking to purchase a state of art electronic item or just a simple household item, price comparison is the key to stretch the dollar even further in this economy.
One site I use for price comparison is Become.com. Become.com has a simple interface and it is a good place to research different products. The site features include both a product research center and price comparison features. If you are planning on hosting a BBQ party at your backyard, you might need a propane grilling with bronze burners. After a great time at the party, be sure to store your wine with a #5 rubber stopper wine bottle. Become.com enables you to search and price compare different items for your daily needs. Even if you are looking for exotic item such as blue polka dot dinnerware, you will find a wide range of selection.

Sunday Video Fun: My Blackberry Is Not Working!
This is one the the funniest video I have seen in awhile given that technology has taken over everyone’s lives. This short video from BBC makes fun of all the different technology names such as a blackberry. Given that there are more and more products coming out each day and each one must have a unique code name, I can wait to see if they are able to come up with a sequel to this video.
Eggs-Box 360 is my favorite.
Protect your love ones with Burial Insurance
There are always topics that even as a family it is hard to bring up. Things like when you passed away, how or who is going to be organizing the funeral. If you have multiple children, should each one pay for the funeral equally? Should your favorite child take up the tab? Or should the child that is doing the best financially? I actually witnessed this when my grandmother passed away a few years ago and it generally lead to family tension and bitterness. In my grandmother’s case, we were lucky that she has been stashing cash away in her belongings which we ended up using to pay for her funeral. However, if you are worried that your love ones will be burdened with the cost of burial, you should consider purchasing a burial insurance.
What is a burial insurance? A burial insurance is essentially a whole life insurance policy that usually pays out from $5000 to $25,000. In case you are not aware, a funeral can be very expensive. From the cost of casket, cremation/burial ground, transportation etc. If you understand whole life insurance you know that you are allowed to use that money for something else in addition to funeral. You can use it for debt reduction for your love ones after you passed away.
There are many companies that offers burial insurance and the first thing to do is to do your some background research on what the type of funeral would actually cost in where you live (burial ground tends to cost a lot more). Once you get an idea of the cost, you can then research on final expense insurance rates. Like other insurance policy, where you live also determines the cost of the insurance. I live in California so I would look up California Burial Insurance”. In case where you wonder how your insurance premium is evaluated, check out Insurance Information Exchange and you will see that in addition to credit reports they also check auto, property claims and some sort of driving records.
